Steak and French Fries
Reviewed Friday, December 14, 2018
This is one of my favorite restaurant chain, I meant it. I visit them in Paris, Bogota and it quickly became our go-to for dinner meetings. We (my wife and I) are both fans of steak so this worked well for us.
All the floor servers are women, and dressed in quasi french-maid outfits, to keep the french vibe. The walls have a Venice decor (hence the name) and it's modeled after the original location in Paris. The restaurant there originally opened by a family that wanted to serve their wine. Because they were not restauranteur's they chose a simple and straight forward meal: steak and french fries, with at least a dozen dessert options to go with it.
The house wine is indeed fantastic - a simple but easily drinkable Red Bordeaux (60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon). 1/2 bottle price is $17.95! Steak is served blue, rare, medium, and well done and they write this on your table top! The price is $31.95!
They bring french baguette bread - no butter! Just a delicious mustard. Chopped salad served with walnuts and a mustard dressing, and of course the main meal is steak.
Steak is brought out in two portions and kept warm in between servings. This way your food never gets cold before you can eat it. Extra fries are offered with the second serving. The best part here, though (aside from the desserts, to be honest) is the sauce. It's a secret! The chef's don't even know exactly what is in it - they just add the butter (and a lot of it at that...so good). The sauce is perfect for the steak and goes well with the fries, too. Extra sauce comes at a small charge I believe, but again, worth it!
They serve a number of desserts and desserts wines and port. We tried this time their creme brulee and it was vanilla taste was very good as well. The price is $9.75!
I love this place and planing to go back again soon!
